service.

1. Who you are contracting with

Examo is a product of Umko Solutions (Pty) Ltd (registration 202192427707), a company incorporated in South Africa. In these terms "Examo", "we" and "us" mean Umko Solutions. "You" means the person using the service, and where that person is under 18, also the parent or guardian who consented and pays.

These terms, together with the Privacy & POPIA policy, form the agreement between us. By messaging Examo on WhatsApp or paying a subscription, you accept them.

3. What Examo is, and what it is not

Examo sends you real past-paper questions over WhatsApp and gives you the official memo for each one, along with plain-language explanations. The service is live for Grade 11 and Grade 12 across the NSC, IEB and Cambridge syllabuses.

Examo does not mark your answers

This matters, so it is stated plainly. Examo does not grade, score or assess what you type. When you answer a question, we send you the official marking memorandum for that question — the model answer and how the marks are allocated — so that you can check your own work against it. Any judgement about whether your answer was right is yours to make. Where our explanations comment on a common error, they describe what the memo requires, not what you personally got wrong.

You can ask for more on a topic, and we draw that from Wikipedia

Alongside the memo, you may ask for further information on the topic a question covers. Where we have it, we send a short summary drawn from Wikipedia into the same WhatsApp chat, so you do not have to leave the conversation to read around the subject. Wikipedia is written and edited by the public, is not written for your syllabus, and forms no part of any examining body's material. Treat it as background reading, not as an authority: where it differs from the official memo, the memo is correct.

Examo is not a school, and is not accredited

We are not a registered educational institution. We do not issue certificates, reports or qualifications. Nothing Examo sends you counts towards any examination or assessment.

Examo is not affiliated with any examining body

We are not endorsed by, associated with, or acting on behalf of the Department of Basic Education, the IEB, Cambridge Assessment International Education or Umalusi. References to NSC, IEB and Cambridge describe which syllabus a question comes from. Those names belong to their owners.

Examo does not promise a result

Practising past papers helps. It does not guarantee a pass, a distinction, an APS score, university admission or any other outcome. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something.

4. Eligibility and parental consent

• You need a working WhatsApp account. WhatsApp requires users to be at least 13.
• If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must consent before your subscription becomes active, as POPIA requires. Usually this is the person paying.
• A parent or guardian may cancel the subscription and withdraw consent at any time.
• One subscription covers one learner on one WhatsApp number.

Price

R49 per month, including VAT where applicable. Covers every Grade 11 and Grade 12 subject you are taking.

First payment

Through a secure Paystack checkout link sent in the chat. Your bank will verify it with 3D Secure.

Renewals

Charged automatically each month to the same card, using the authorisation from your first payment.

Failed payment

Three-day grace period. We will tell you in the chat. If it is still unpaid after that, access pauses.

Cancelling

Message us in the chat. It takes effect at the end of the paid month. No cancellation fee.

By subscribing you authorise us, through Paystack, to charge the monthly fee to your card until you cancel. We will give you at least 20 business days' notice in the chat before any price increase, and you may cancel instead of accepting it.

Refunds

Section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act gives consumers a seven-day cooling-off right on certain electronic transactions. Because Examo begins delivering the service immediately, we do not rely on the exclusions in that section — if you change your mind within seven days of your first payment, message us and we will refund it. After that, cancelling stops the next charge rather than refunding the current month. Nothing here limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.

6. Delivery over WhatsApp

Examo runs on the WhatsApp Business Platform, operated by Meta, through our provider 360dialog. Your use of WhatsApp is subject to WhatsApp's own terms, which we do not control.

• You consent to receive service messages from Examo when you start the chat or subscribe.
• Reply STOP at any time and messages cease. Note that this also stops the service you are paying for.
• We message you about your study sessions, your subscription and your account. We do not send unrelated marketing.
• If WhatsApp is down, blocks our number, or changes its platform rules, the service may be interrupted. Where an interruption is prolonged and our fault, we will credit the affected days.
• Data charges for using WhatsApp are between you and your network operator.

7. How you may and may not use Examo

Use it to study. Do not:

• Share, resell or sublicense your access, or use one subscription for several learners.
• Automate, script or bulk-extract questions, memos or explanations from the chat.
• Rebuild or redistribute our question bank, tagging or indexing, in whole or in part.
• Use Examo during an examination, test or any assessment where outside help is not permitted. Doing so is academic dishonesty and is your responsibility, not ours.
• Send us abusive, unlawful or harmful content, or attempt to interfere with the service.

We may suspend or end access, without refund, where these rules are seriously or repeatedly broken.

8. Intellectual property

Ownership splits in two, and the split matters.

Not ours. Examination papers, questions and marking memoranda remain the intellectual property of the examining body that produced them. We claim no rights in them, and nothing in these terms transfers any right in them to you. Your subscription does not license you to reproduce or redistribute that content. Background reading drawn from Wikipedia belongs to its contributors and is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence; we do not own it and we do not charge you for it.

Ours. The Examo name and logo, the website, the conversational service, the question-by-question delivery method, the five-dimension indexing scheme, the paper-to-memo linkage, and the explanations we generate are the property of Umko Solutions and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. You get a personal, non-transferable right to use them for your own study, and nothing more.

9. Accuracy

We take accuracy seriously. Content is reviewed by practising South African teachers before it goes live, and the official memo is always the authority.

Explanations are generated with the assistance of artificial intelligence and can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Background summaries drawn from Wikipedia are public, community-edited material that is not written for your syllabus and can change at any time. Syllabuses change. Where an explanation and the official memo disagree, the memo is correct and the explanation is not. Tell us and we will fix it. Do not rely on Examo as your only source, and check anything important against your textbook or your teacher.

10. Availability

We aim to keep Examo running but do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change features, add or remove subjects, or carry out maintenance. Grade 11 and Grade 12 are live, and your current subscription covers those two grades. Grades 8 to 10 are described on our website as coming soon; that is a statement of intent, not a commitment to a date.

11. Liability

Examo is a study aid, supplied as is. To the fullest extent permitted by law, and subject to the Consumer Protection Act, we are not liable for examination results, marks, admission decisions or lost opportunities; for reliance on an explanation that turns out to be wrong; for interruptions caused by WhatsApp, Meta, your network operator or your payment provider; or for indirect or consequential loss.

Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the subscription fees you paid in the three months before the claim. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for gross negligence or fraud.

12. Ending the agreement

You may cancel at any time in the chat. We may end or suspend your access if you break these terms, if payment fails beyond the grace period, if consent is withdrawn for a learner under 18, or if we discontinue the service. If we discontinue it, we will refund the unused portion of your current month.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and material changes will be announced in the chat before they take effect. Continuing to use Examo after that means you accept them. If you do not, cancel.

14. Law and disputes

South African law governs this agreement, and the South African courts have jurisdiction. Talk to us first — most things are fixable in a message. If we cannot resolve it, you may refer a consumer complaint to the National Consumer Commission or an accredited consumer goods ombud, and a data-protection complaint to the Information Regulator.
